“I’m proud to have played a small role on the audio side of things in Eirene Houston and Hugo Rivalta’s beautiful documentary Life Is Dance, a joyous portrait of the importance of dance in Cuban culture.
It’s getting its UK premiere at the excellent Havana Glasgow Film Festival at the GFT on Thursday 13th Nov (8-10pm) and I’ll be joining the directors and Libby Macarthur for a Q&A afterwards.

Saint Etienne announce their second UK show for summer 2026 opening as special guests for Belle and Sebastian at Margate’s legendary Dreamland on Friday 31st July. The bands very first, and likely last, show in Margate - tickets go on pre-sale at 10am this coming Thursday with on-sale to the general public at 10am on Friday 31st at the link in the bio here.

It’s at one of our favourite UK venues with one of our favourite bands Belle and Sebastian who will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their ‘If You’re Feeling Sinister’ LP.
Tickets go on sale next Friday - 24th October - via the link in our bio and we’re expecting this one to sell out quickly.

Kiss And Make Up was released 35 years ago today.

“We were drinking buddies with Michael from the Field Mice. I was even their manager for about ten minutes. Kiss And Make Up was on their first album, Snowball, and was initially recorded the same evening as Only Love Can Break Your Heart, with Moira Lambert on vocals and Harvey Williams on guitar and bass.”

“This was our second single, with Donna Savage from the band Dead Famous People - who we were fans of - singing. We hadn’t met Sarah by this point and had the idea of recording with different vocalists on every release. We had yet to write any proper songs at this point - Sky’s Dead the B-Side shows the level of our prowess then! The title of which was inspired by a line from Neighbours which we must have had on in the studio”

Our very own @debseyonbass has her memoir published this Thursday 25th September.
‘Teenage Daydream’ is Debsey’s account of her time in the all girl band Dolly Mixture and is available from @newmodernbooks

To celebrate the launch, Monorail Music will be hosting a special event on Wednesday 1st October in the Mono Cafe Bar, 12 Kings Court, King Street, Glasgow.
Debsey will be in conversation with Jenny Rollo along with a rare screening of Paul Kelly’s Dolly Mixture documentary ‘Take Three Girls’. Matthew Rich will be creating live screen prints throughout the evening with Stephen Pastel DJing. Tickets available on the link in the bio.

‘International’ has charted at number 8 in this week’s UK Top 40.
With a host of new LPs released last week it was a highly competitive chart that sees Saint Etienne in the Top Ten for the first time since the 1990s.

We’d like to thank each and every one of you who bought physical copies, downloaded and streamed the album - it means the world to us and we’re so grateful for your support.

Wow, Rough Trade East you really did us proud last night.

In spite of the tube strike the room was sold out and packed to the rafters.

Familiar faces and new ones too, it was great to chat with so many of you.

Don’t forget to tune in to the Lauren Laverne show on BBC 6 Music this morning where we’ll be in session for three songs with special guests Janet Planet from Confidence Man and Jez Williams from Doves.

Following the session we’re off to Rough Trade Nottingham for a signing tonight - this has been a lot of fun already.
